INDORE: A 22-year-old woman from Indore was branded with a hot iron rod allegedly by her husband and her in-laws for bearing a girl child in Dewas, Madhya Pradesh.
According to Dewas police officials, the husband and in-laws of the victim began torturing her after she gave birth to a girl-child.
"She said that she was married according to her family’s wishes three years ago.

A year later, she delivered a baby girl, and after that the behavior of her husband and her in-laws towards her changed drastically," they said.
“They started beating her frequently and questioning her character. On March 16, they thrashed her mercilessly over a petty issue and later locked her in a room. They allegedly used a hot iron rod to burn her on her legs,” Baroth police station in-charge Shailendra Mukati said.
He added that the matter came to light when her brother reached there, and found his sister in the worst shape.
They later approached the police and filed a complaint of domestic violence against her husband and her in-laws.
"A case under IPC sections 498-A, 323, 324, 326, 504, 506 and 34 has been registered against her husband -- Bablu Jhala, his parents Bheru Jhala and Manju Jhala, his brother Ankit and sister Khajal –- all residents of Nariyakheda area of Dewas, and they will be arrested soon," added police station in-charge Mukati.
